200 miles of open sea

After months of planning, a modified Kirton Njord is now ready to attempt it's 200 mile open sea crossing.

Olly Hicks and Patrick Winterton, will be following in the wake of the Shetland Bus heroes from World War II; A group of Norwegian fishermen who made repeated crossings of the North Sea, in the worst conditions, to ferry arms and agents into Norway and take refugees out. Starting from Lunna Voe on mainland Shetland they will skirt the Out Skerries before heading across 200 miles of open ocean. All being well they will finish at Leif Larsen’s memorial in Bergen 4 days after setting off.
